DIY Tree Resin Hair Oil: Wild-Foraged Botanical Nourishment

Between long days outside and constantly throwing my hair up in a messy bun, my ends tend to get pretty dry and brittle. I recently discovered something way better that a store-bought hair oil / serum: making my own botanical hair oil. It might sound a little wild to put tree resin in your hair oil, but trust me on this one—it’s an absolute game-changer for hydration and scalp health.
Why Make Your Own Tree Resin Hair Oil?
Most commercial hair serums are packed with synthetic silicones. They might make your hair feel soft at first, but they actually just coat your strands in a plastic-like film that leads to dullness and buildup over time. Crafting your own DIY hair oil means you are feeding your scalp pure, plant-based nutrients that actually soak in. By blending wild-foraged pine pitch with a lightweight base like jojoba oil, you create a natural, eco-friendly serum that tames frizz, soothes an itchy scalp, and leaves your hair smelling absolutely incredible.

- Jasmine Essential Oil: a uper nourishing for dry, brittle ends, and it balances out the pine scent with a smooth, luxurious aroma

Step-by-Step Instructions:
What You Need (for 2oz bottle):
- 2oz Jojoba Oil
- 1 tsp Tree Resin
- 5-7 drops Bergamot Essential Oil
- 3-5 drops Neroli Oil
- 3-5 drops Jasmine Oil
- Double boiler
- 1 (2 oz) glass dropper bottle
- Cheesecloth (to strain the resin)
How to:
Pour your jojoba oil into a double boiler. Gently warm the oil on low heat.
Toss the resin bits into the warm jojoba oil and stir slowly until it completely dissolves.
Since raw tree pitch usually has tiny bits of bark or dirt in it, carefully pour the warm oil through your cheesecloth or strainer into a clean glass bowl. This keeps your final hair oil perfectly smooth.
Let the strained oil cool down for just a minute or two. Stir in your bergamot, neroli, and jasmine essential oils until they are fully mixed.
Carefully pour the finished liquid into your glass dropper bottle.
